INVESTIGATIONS

The Investigations Division of the Oneonta Police Department is staffed with multiple police investigators that are assigned to investigate crimes reported by the patrol division and citizens of Oneonta. OPD Investigators investigate various types of crimes that occur within the City of Oneonta. Some of these crimes include but are not limited to property crimes, crimes against persons, identity thefts, fraud, narcotics and all crimes that are in violation of the Code of Alabama 1975. The Investigation Division examines both Misdemeanor and Felony crimes and makes applicable referrals to the Blount County District Attorney’s Office and the Oneonta Municipal Magistrates. Investigators normally work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. An Investigator is also “on-call” after normal business hours and on weekends, should one be needed.

Other duties of the Investigations Division include gathering and maintaining criminal
intelligence information and performing criminal surveillance as is necessary. The Investigations Division also serves on the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force and is a liaison with Blount County Juvenile Court System. Investigators also commonly interact with all other law enforcement agencies on crimes occurring throughout the State of Alabama and beyond where there is a nexus to the City of Oneonta.

Contact the Oneonta Police Department Investigations Division if you have any information concerning any type of criminal activity that is going on in your area including drug activity.
